Nick Arsenault from the Mill River Golf Club is the PEIGA Match Play Champion for 2010. Arsenault captured the championship Tuesday afternoon with a 3 and 1 victory over Dave Shellington of Belvedere. After thirteen holes the match was all square when Arsenault proceeded to birdie three of the next four holes to take the victory. A rain delay Saturday morning pushed the championship match to Tuesday at the Belvedere Golf Club.
On Sunday Arsenault defeated Richard Little of Fox Meadow 3 and 2 to reach the final while Shellington eliminated Tim York of Anderson's Creek 5 and 4 to set up the final.
This event marks the end of the PEIGA Amateur golf season. The top three ranked players from this summers tournaments will be awarded prizes compliments of Titleist and Chris Irwin. These awards and prizes will be presented at the Annual Meeting of the PEIGA this winter.
It was a nice way to finish my tournament golf ... looking forward to playing next year now ! Don't really want the season to be over ... but it's ok.
